FAQs

1) Where does the money go?

100% of all donations goes directly to cover costs associated with producing the film Connected, including pre-production, production (filming), post-production, etc. Our entire staff and volunteer core are working pro bono, until we meet our production budget.

2) What is Connected about?

For a full synopsis from the Green-Light study, please visit our page: The Film.

3) What's a Green-Light study?

A Green-Light study aims to estimate a film's public reception (and therefore its economic viability). The film is compared to several past films that are similar in genre and budget, analyzing the script and budget to estimate its public reception. Connected was "Green-Lit" -pronounced economically viable and likely to be well-received by cross-demographics, due to its universal family themes and comedic and dramatic elements.

4) Who will be in Connected?

For several of the lead roles, SoulFire Films has a shortlist of professional SAG actors who will be contacted first by our casting director, once funding is secured. Other roles will be cast through our casting director. This is a union production.

5) When will filming start?

Projected for Spring/Summer 2011.

6) What will happen to the film's revenue, once it's distributed?

In the normal "studio model", funding is raised by investors -whether they're studios or independent financiers. Since most of our funding is from donations, rather than investments, the 50% that normally goes back to the investors will directly fund the SoulFire Project. (see below) The remaining 50% will be divided as per the standard model: 25% split among affiliated production companies; 25% split among talent, director, writer, etc.

7) What is the SoulFire Project?

The SoulFire Project aims to empower people around the world to manifest the projects of their heart and soulfire. After Connected is distributed, we will create a supportive web community, called SoulFireProject.com, where anyone will be able to make a web page about their own SF project. The pages will help people gather support and funding, spread awareness about their project, and unite people with common goals. The projects will be anything that fuels your soulfire -in art, science, humanitarian works, and beyond. The SoulFire Project may eventually expand beyond the SFP website to include projects such as school programs and incentives, senior citizen programs to help people realize their long-held dreams, and more!

8) What is the projected budget for Connected?

Our initial budget breakdown, by producer Jack Binder, details a small budget of $1.2 million.

9) How will you fit 1 million names in the credits of the film?

They will be small, but they'll be there, representing how many people it took to make this extraordinary project. The DVD will have a special search feature so that you can find the names of all of your family and friends when you host screening parties where everyone jumps up and down screaming, "Look, I'm a film Producer! It never gets old! I'm a film Producer!"

Quotes from average people (ages ranging from 14 to 30s to 60s) who have read the screenplay for Connected:

"It is so well crafted and strikes to the core of human being in this culture and age. I wept at many points..."

"I read the entire thing cover-to-cover last night and loved every minute of it. By the time I had finished, I really felt as if I had connected with the characters and became a part of their family. Every character has so much depth and all together, they are the epitome of a true, living, breathing family. I am so thrilled to see what it will look like on the big screen!"

"This uplifting work is a vehicle for enlightenment."

"...it demonstrated a thorough understanding of people. I saw myself here too which is always a good thing. ...Another thing I took from this and something too many people in this world forget: 'Most people only know their own way of loving. They don't let other people love them in their own way;' that has massive resonance - beyond people but for things, ideologies and lifestyles. ...Beautiful ending."

"Last night I got the script... and did not stop until I was finished! It is lovely! And the whole time I was reading it I was just warm and comfortable. You can see it all happen, everything was described so beautifully and Baba is 'delightful' that is just a word for her."
