Frequently Asked Questions

The entire CF Core Team is a volunteer base, so that as much money as possible can go directly to production costs. As with any fund-raising effort, there is a minimal cost for upkeep, such as $40/month for website hosting, and occasional printing and postage costs. Wherever possible, we find alternative ways to provide for our needs, such as lending, gifting, and volunteering. Our one big expenditure so far was the $4,000 deposit on renting our main location for the shoot. Thanks to everyone who helped! When you watch it, you’ll know you helped rent that house. If you’d like to request more info on expenditures, please contact our Business Manager.
Soulfire is that immutable fountain of inspiration that fills your entire body and being when you know you Must. “I Must marry this person!” “I Must study paleontology!” “I Must offer my gifts to the world!”
4. What is a ‘Green Light Study’?
A Green-Light study aims to estimate a film’s public reception and economic viability. The study compares the new film to several past films, which are similar in genre and budget, analyzing the script and budget to estimate its public reception. Connected was “Green-Lit”, meaning it was pronounced economically viable and likely to be well-received by cross-demographics, due to its universal family themes and comedic and dramatic elements.
We’ll be casting and crewing the film locally, on the amazingly talented Whidbey Island and surrounds.
August, 2012.
7. What will happen to the film’s revenue, once Connected is distributed?
Since our goal is to be of service to others, 100% of the revenue from the percentage of our funding that is raised from donations will be used to help others manifest their dream projects, either by partnering with an existing organization with the same mindful ideals and goals, or by creating our own non-profit (SoulFire Project.org), to share what we’ve learned and gathered through a new platform. We’ll gratefully gather your input when the time comes and announce it all publicly.
8. What is the ‘SoulFire Project’?
The SoulFire Project will aim to empower people around the world to manifest the projects of their heart and soulfire. After Connected is distributed, we aim to create a supportive web community, called SoulFireProject.com, where anyone will be able to make a web page about their own project.
The pages will help people gather support and funding, spread awareness about their project, and unite people with common goals. The projects could be anything that fuels your soulfire -in art, science, humanitarian works, and beyond. The SoulFire Project may eventually expand beyond the website to include projects such as school programs and senior citizen programs to help people realize their long-held dreams, and more! If when the time comes, such an organization already exists, we may simply unite with them.
9. What is the projected budget for Connected?
We’re currently re-doing the initial budget, which was pulled by FilmBudget.com at 1.2M -Vastly more than we need, so we’re re-envisioning how far to shrink that without compromising quality.
10. How will you fit all of those names in the credits of the film?
We’re limiting each name to 20 characters, so that we can fit more to a page. The font size will be small, but the power of the volume of people involved will be evident. The DVD also will have a special search feature so you can find the names of all of your family and friends. That way when you host screening parties, everyone can jump up and down screaming, “Look, I’m a film Producer! It never gets old! I’m a film Producer!”
